  15. INTRODUCTION
  16. ------------
  17. Thank you for taking the time to download this software package.
  18. FontReview 2.0 is a new utility for both Windows 95 and NT 4.0. With this 
  19. 32 bit software installed, you can view, print and install any TrueType 
  20. font directly from the Explorer interface. Recent version changes can be found
  21. at the bottom of this file.

  23. After FontReview is installed on your 95 / NT 4.0 system, you can look at 
  24. uninstalled TrueType fonts on any storage medium. It works with TTF files on
  25. floppy, CD-ROMs and hard drive directories. If the font is not installed,
  26. you can install it with two clicks!

  28. FontReview includes a comprehensive UNINSTALL program, so we encourage you
  29. to install it on your system and give it a trial run. If you don't like
  30. the FontReview (we suspect you will!), you can easily remove the
  31. program from your computer.

  33. This README.TXT file contains important information for new users as well
  34. as shareware distributors. Please take the time to read through it.

  37. INSTALL/UNINSTALL AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  38. ------------------------------------
  39. To install FontReview, you need a computer running Windows 95 or NT 4.0.
  40. We recommend at least a 486/66 machine with 8 megabytes of memory.
  41.  
  42. If you downloaded this software from a BBS, you will also
  43. need a copy of VB40032.DLL. This file can be found on Compuserve
  44. (WINUTIL, VB432DLL.ZIP ) and on various Internet Web/FTP sites.
  45. (We recommend www.windows95.com. This is a superior Windows95/NT
  46. specific location.)

  48. To install FontReview:
  49.         1. Create a temporary directory and unzip the distribution
  50.            .ZIP file to that directory.
  51.         2. Double click the SETUP.EXE icon found in that temporary
  52.            directory. This program will install FontReview on your
  53.            computer.
  54.         3. After you have installed FontReview, you can delete the
  55.            temporary directory and the SETUP.EXE file.
  56.         4. We recommend placing the distribution .ZIP file on a backup
  57.            floppy in case you need to reinstall FontReview.

  59. If you need to uninstall FontReview, click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon
  60. in your Windows95 Control Panel. From the list, select FontReview. This
  61. will run the uninstaller. The uninstaller removes program files and removes
  62. changes made to the Windows Registry.

  65. RUNNING FONTREVIEW
  66. ------------------
  67. Because FontReview is accessed through the Windows95 Explorer interface
  68. (it is a "shell extension"), it does not have a Start Menu item like
  69. Microsoft Word or Corel Draw.

  71. To see FontReview in action, open a folder containing uninstalled
  72. TrueType TTF files. A CD-ROM filled with TrueType fonts will do nicely.
  73. If you right click on a TTF file, you will notice three new menu items.
  74. "Print", "Open", and "Install." If you click "Open" (or double click the
  75. TTF file), this will bring up the main FontReview window. From here you can
  76. see what your uninstalled font file looks like!

  78. If you press the F1 key, it will open the FontReview online help file.
  79. The help file tells you more about using FontReview!

  84. Because this is a shareware application, we encourage users and companies to
  85. distribute this program. If you are a commercial shareware distributor or
